HOW QUANTUM COMPUTERS CHANGE BIG DATA IN HEALTHCARE

Abstract: For over 40 years, quantum computing has intrigued and amazed scientists and non-scientists in its future possibility for solving problems that are intractable using classical computing. Over the last six years, IBM has made real quantum computers available on the cloud so that clients, students, and researchers can begin to learn and experiment with this new way of computing. We’ll see what potentials exist in the heathcare/life sciences industry, the state of quantum computing today, and how you can get on the right path to make the earliest use of this rapidly evolving technology.

LAST MILE ACTIVATION – THE FINAL FRONTIER TO UNLOCK THE VALUE OF BIG DATA IN HEALTHCARE
As health data becomes more standardized and available, it is allowing enterprises to generate better insights that indicate a significant “identified” value. However, the reluctance to leverage advanced AI techniques is substantiated by the inability for enterprises to convert “identified” to “realized” value. This session talks about the importance of making insights “consumable” and “effective” by allowing them to integrate into the business processes and workflows. Whether it is key challenges such as reducing the overall cost of care for payers or getting a better line of sight into expected reimbursements for providers, the challenge is the “last mile” or the activation. The session will discuss possible frameworks and key considerations, with specific examples on how to realize the value through last mile activation of these insights.
BIG SEQUENCING DATA – APPLIED AI & THE IMPACTS ON DRUG DISCOVERY

The third fastest growing dataset in the world is life science data. That data comes from sequencing DNA, RNA, and the myriad of other tests being performed in labs around the globe. And while the vast majority of data scientists are used their to sell more clicks or optimize for financial returns, less than 5% are using their powers to work on data that could positively impact the lives of our loved ones and the health of humanity. How do we change that? How do we bridge the divide between engineering expertise and scientific expertise? What are some of the ways life science data can be used to help humanity? Are you ready to use your skills to change how healing is designed?
